10 Years Harbourside Motor Lodge Nelson

In March 2001 Graham Barker opened the Harbourside Motor Lodge next to the marine right in the middle of Nelson’s port. Some people might have thought that this is a strange place for a motel, way out of the city and next to industry and warehouses. However the success soon showed that the choice of the location was not so bad at all.
Being busy with other enterprises, specially restaurants, Graham Barker sold the Harbourside Motor Lodge to Angelika and Reinhard Gebhard in early 2005.
During the year 2005 the Harbourside Motor Lodge underwent extensive renovation. With free wireless internet, a complimentary expanded buffet breakfast and the close vicinity of an excellent restaurant, the lodge is now a regular place to stay for many corporate travellers as well as tourists.
Corporate travellers enjoy the comfort of air-conditioned rooms with heatable en-suite bathrooms all year round. Even in the deepest winter the rooms stay comfortably warm. Sky guest select with 40 TV channels keeps the dark winter evenings short.
During the busy season tourists from all over the world choose the Harbourside Motor Lodge for their stay in Nelson and many of them are already considered as “regulars”. The European flair appeals to overseas travellers as well as local guests.
The yellow and blue colour scheme combined with white walls and ceilings reflects the sunshine and water of Nelson, the sunshine capital of New Zealand.
